"Turbo" wrappers. Chapter 5. #55. Ferrari 156/85 F1.

Red Stallion.

Formula One came to Russia some years after "Turbo". During "Turbo" days we didn't know much about racing in West World. So every image displaying the F1 cars was very curious. Thin wishbones, wide wheels, aerodynamic wings, safety bar behind the driver's helmet - Soviet kids had never seen something like this before. West became a bit closer. In 1990 Red Ferrari from F1 was something like alien's spaceship.

The plot "Fiat Formula?.. Not! that's Ferrari"

The car marked as "FIAT", but even then I knew it's not Fiat, because it is Ferrari. I've yet made little investigation about the model of a car... and there I have not great success about it. Probably the presented car is Ferrari 156/85. But I cannot find photo with proper wing and pontoons.

What about the car itself.

The car participated the 1986 racing season. Pilots - Michele Alboreto, René Arnoux (first race only) & Stefan Johansson. Team gathered 82 points & got the 2nd place in Constructor's championship. The car was fast but a lot of retirements (6 of Alboreto & 5 of Johansson) didn't allow Ferrari to win the titles. And of cause the "Turbo" technical data is completely wrong.

156/85 was a first Ferrari projected by CAD systems.
