"Turbo" wrappers. Chapter 12. #62. Tyrrell 011.

Candy Car.

Does advertisement work? I'm sure it does work, the question is the time that should pass until one will buy the advertised object! It was 1990 and I had never seen "Candy" logo before this wrapper. Also I didn't know what this word could mead. I used vocabulary to translate it to Russian (it was tasty and sweet). And my first washing machine is "Candy".

F1 car, no doubt

Children of USSR didn't know much about Formula 1. Yes, some of us knew that such races existed. Also we knew that these cars are the fastest. But that was all. Couple of photos with F1 cars (usually ancient... 60-70's) could be considered as great success. It was in state of impossible for me to define what car was Indy and what was F1, but today I can say - these times I was loving F1 cars and hating Indy ones.

What about the car itself

The car had been in use for 3 seasons - 1981, 1982, 1983. In 1982 "011" participated in all races and driven by Michele Alboreto took 2 GP victories. So this Tyrrell is remarkable anyway - chassis was great enough to win, however the engine was old and weak Cosworth DFV.
