About the insert

Due to the incredible coolness of the car on this insert and 3 types (it was called a "triple insert"), turbo No. 51 was changed to 3 ordinary single inserts. If we can come to an agreement, of course. There was magic in the very name "Testarossa". This is not "24-01" for you! I admit, I was disappointed when I found out that this magic word translates from Italian simply as "red head". The characteristics were fascinating: almost 5 liters and 12 cylinders. 4 Zhiguli engines! And, of course, those crazy air intakes with "stripes" or "blades", opening headlights. This car, its name, and its power were memorable at first glance. She was saying: "I am the real Ferrari that you are afraid to even dream of!"

The three photographs that the editors of the series used to create the liner notes are found in quite a large number of publications from periodicals to annual catalogs. Which is not surprising, because here are photos from the company's press kit. However, we are sure that the Turks did not collect from the world by a thread, but took all three photos from a one-page booklet, mirroring the side view.

About the Car

The Testarossa appeared in 1984 and replaced the sleek 512 Berlinetta Boxer. Pininfarina artists Ian Cameron, GuidoCampoli, Diego Ottina and Emanuele Nicosia, under the patronage of Leonardo Fioravanti, tried to avoid a repeat of the 512bb problems associated with radiators located in the front: a small trunk and overheating of the cabin. Therefore, the radiators located in front of the rear wheels became the key point of the design. This led to the appearance of the famous air intakes, nicknamed "egg cutters". The car became very wide, aerodynamic (Cx = 0.36) and had excellent downforce without any spoiler or wing.

The design, which is considered ideal today, was criticized in 1984. The car seemed clumsy because of its width after its elegant predecessor. Believe me, the criticism was empty, I saw Testarossa 1 time in my life. It was on the waterfront in Helsinki, and the car looked like Cinderella at a ball, eclipsing everything around with its splendor.

In my opinion, 512bb is quite good. But she is very far from Testarossa. Where is the charisma of the "egg cutters"? Where is the monstrous width? Where is the uncompromising ideal of the waistline?
