Psychoanalysis

It's not a secret that a lot of our mind's stuff is coming from the childhood. When I was just 5 I had rather big number of old auto journals (probably dated about end of 70s) named "ZA RULYOM" ("Behing the steering wheel"). And I had been spending a lot of time reading them, specially looking to foreign cars. It's quite hard to describe it in few words, but this had a great influence to all my life. These days it was one of my most favorite occupation to sit on the floor looking through the journals. And I had been really enjoying doing that. Then my journals was lost...

But I want to return the enjoy. I have been always wanting to get my enjoy back. For more then 20 years I've been collecting the old journals, buying them on old book shops and flea-markets. And only now my dream and my enjoy get back. ZR.ru published the full archive of "ZA RULYOM" from the early beginning. Now I can enjoy again, on-line.

The picture on the front of the article is in my head for about 25 years. Especially 2 cars "Renault 5 Turbo" and "Jeep Cherokee Chief". These cars inspired me so much that I conserved 'em in my memory for more then 2 decades. Why? It's not so hard to explain... Soviet past + childhood dreams = Powerful mind stamp for all life.

With this picture I'll open unique series in my blog. I shall post all the pictures that will appear in my memories. That's kinda open psychoanalysis. Let's go deep.

Just Kadett

What do you think when see that car on the street? Just the ordinary 80s hatch... Nothing more. There's no any surprize to see Kadett E in USSR cities of the 90s. The wrapper itself wasn't rare, nice nor interesting. It was usual, evenmore it was banal. As if now you'll see the wrapper with ...Lanos or Logan ... or Nexia.

Candy Car.

Does advertisement work? I'm sure it does work, the question is the time that should pass until one will buy the advertised object! It was 1990 and I had never seen "Candy" logo before this wrapper. Also I didn't know what this word could mead. I used vocabulary to translate it to Russian (it was tasty and sweet). And my first washing machine is "Candy".

Wind's name.

Scirocco is simple but very nice car for me. When I had got this wrapper I couldn't read the name of model. Then my father explained me that it was the name of wind blowing in Italy from the south. And I had remembered it well. This time one couldn't find Scirocco on the SU strets. But it successor "Corrado" was well known in the 90s as "mafia car".

Wow, Mers!

This wrapper invoked natural feeling "Wow, Mers!" when one saw it first time. The car presented on it is the most usual Mercedes 190 or W201. There weren't a lot of Mercedes-Benz cars in SU cities streets, most of them were W123 or even W115 this time. So 190-model looked rather contemporary for the beginning of 1990s.

As I'm not specialist in motorcycles I've decided to put 'em all to one post (because I just cannot leave 'em unmentioned). So we could see all the bikes from Turbo wrappers here. I won't supply 'em with descriptions, cause I don't want to fill Internet with another boring bullshit from a person who isn't inside of a theme.
